BIVTECI: a bibliographic visualization tool

چکیده
Relatively little research has been published about bibliographic visualization, although scientists, researchers, and students often have need for such technology. In this paper, we examine the functionality needed to visualize bibliographies e ectively. After reviewing some existing tools, we present BIVTECI (Bibliographic Visualization Tool with Enhanced Citation Interactivity) which derives from our analysis. Our main research goal is to capture the user-required relationships between bibliographic entries or articles. First, a user must understand the chronology of articles. Second, a user needs to see the in uence of articles on later work, i.e., the citation relationships. Third, the user wishes to group articles by speci ed attributes (e.g., title, author, keyword). Fourth, the user needs to examine information at varying levels of detail from general, multi-article views to speci c, single-article ones. Finally, the user may need to use several information views simultaneously. We note that baseline functionality includes simple retrieval of entries by title, author, and keyword. The prototype BIVTECI tool demonstrates e ective solutions for most of these requirements, combining information visualization with manipulation. The article proposes future research into features

Contextualization of Topics - Browsing through Terms, Authors, Journals and Cluster Allocations
This paper builds on an innovative Information Retrieval tool, Ariadne. The tool has been developed as an interactive network visualization and browsing tool for large-scale bibliographic databases. It basically allows to gain insights into a topic by contextualizing a search query (Koopman et al., 2015). In this paper, we apply the Ariadne tool to a far smaller dataset of 111,616 documents in ...
متن کاملRadiology, nuclear medicine, and medical imaging: a bibliometric study in Iran
Introduction: Nowadays, science mapping is considered an excellent technique for decision-makers to find solutions for problems in research planning and development. In this work, we aimed to depict a science map of “radiology, nuclear medicine, and medical imaging” in Iran. Methods: All publications indexed in Thomson Reuters Web of Science database in the fields mentioned above with at least...
متن کاملMining potential research synergies from co-authorship graphs using power graph analysis
Abstract: Bibliographic databases are a prosperous field for data mining research and social network analysis. They contain rich information, which can be analyzed across different dimensions (e.g., author, year, venue, topic) and can be exploited in multiple ways. The representation and visualization of bibliographic databases as graphs and the application of data mining techniques can help us...
متن کاملA THEORETICALLY CORRECT RESOURCE USAGE VISUALIZATION FOR THE RESOURCE-CONSTRAINED PROJECT SCHEDULING PROBLEM
The cumulative resource constraints of the resource-constrained project scheduling problem (RCPSP) do not treat the resource demands as geometric rectangles, that is, activities are not necessarily assigned to the same resource units over their processing times. In spite of this fact, most papers on resource-constrained project scheduling mainly in the motivation phase use a strip packing of re...
متن کاملScience and technology interactions discovered with a new topographic map-based visualization tool
A new tool for discovering and visualizing interactions between scientific publication domains and industrial patent domains is introduced. The tool is applied to a database of the United States patent data (USPTO) from 1980 till 1995 and the Science Citation Index (SCI) bibliographic databases. The core algorithm behind our tool is the kernel-based Maximum Entropy Rule (kMER), a learning schem...
